This story was developed to aid children and their family in understanding the relationship between the public art sculpture, The Guardians, and the 150 year-old specimen willow oak, discovered during construction of the Southern Area Aquatic Recreation Center (SAARC).
This willow oak tree has become symbolic of the community. The Guardians stand facing the willow oak tree near the entrance to the SAARC. Look under public art for more images of the Guardians.
