Plant Walk is a major commissioned project. NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center joined with the Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails, Anne Arundel County, and the State of Maryland to create a project that will enable the County's residents to stroll, bike or roller blade through the solar system. The linear art gallery of sculptures, the sun and each of the planets form Planet Walk. Each sculpture is to be unique and give visual form to the essence of each planet.

Pluto, the Outer Reach serves as one of the gateways to Planet Walk. A large copper sphere, the sun, is surrounded by rings illustrating the orbital paths of the planets and a small black sphere hangs on the outer reach of the last ring representing Pluto.
